Beneath the glow of the Eternal North Star, where the Frostborn and Stormborn first sealed their ancient oath, there is a rune-carved stone standing alone in the tundra. The warriors call it Astrid’s Veil, for it is said that on the coldest nights, a woman’s voice can be heard whispering through the cracks of ice—a voice that does not belong to the living.
For centuries, the North has honored the sacrifice of Astrid Frostborn, the warrior-seeress who sealed the Rift of Shadows and trapped the Bloodborn Vampires within the abyss. She was lost, her body claimed by the ice, her soul bound to the frost and winds of the North.
But nothing is truly lost in the land of gods and warriors.
There is a prophecy—one foreseen by the oldest Volva, the rune-seers of the North. A prophecy that has been passed from one chieftain to the next, guarded by the Watchers of the Northern Lights Vigil, spoken only in hushed tones around the festival fires:
“When the night is longer than the day,
And the sky is painted in fire and frost,
When the Ravens of Odin circle the rift,
And the blood moon bleeds into the ice—
She will return.
Her heart will beat where it has been silent.
Her name will be spoken where it has been lost.
And the Oath of Frost and Thunder
Will be tested once more.”
No one knows when the prophecy will come to pass. But the signs have begun to appear:
- A crack in the Rift of Shadows, where once there was only ice.
- Dreams of a woman with silver eyes and a crown of frost, seen by the rune-seers.
- A whisper carried on the wind, calling for Kaelan’s bloodline.
The warriors watch the skies, for when the fire and frost meet once more, the Stormborn and Frostborn must be ready. Because if Astrid awakens, so too will the darkness she died to seal away.
And this time, the North may not be strong enough to hold it back.
Will he rise as a warrior ready to reclaim her place, or as something… changed by the void she was trapped in? Is she still the woman Kaelan loved, or has the abyss twisted her into something else?
The North is waiting. The gods are watching. And the Oath of Frost and Thunder is not yet finished.
