The Tale of King Midas

↪ Poetic Retelling
Of Myth and Lore

(Let me tell you a story, of a king with a touch, who turned everything to gold, but lost so much)

King Midas, a ruler with wealth and grace,
Dreamed of gold to fill his space.
With a wish so grand, he touched with might,
And gold appeared, both day and night.
But soon his feast turned to gilded woe,
As everything he touched began to glow.

In the realm of riches and dreams so bright,
Midas faced a curse in golden light.
Through every touch and every gleam,
His golden touch turned to a cruel dream.

King Midas, with a touch of gold,
Lost more than he could ever hold.
In the quest for riches, his heart turned cold,
A tale of greed in a story told.
From wealth to woe and golden plight,
His tale endures in the golden light.

His food turned gold, and so did his drink,
In the quest for riches, he’d barely think.
His daughter, too, was touched by gold,
A story of greed that took its toll.
In the end, he begged for the curse to lift,
A tale of riches, but a heavy gift.

Through the riches and the golden touch,
Midas learned that he lost much.
In the dance of wealth and heart’s desire,
His tale is one of lost fire.

King Midas, with a touch of gold,
Lost more than he could ever hold.
In the quest for riches, his heart turned cold,
A tale of greed in a story told.
From wealth to woe and golden plight,
His tale endures in the golden light.

(And though the gold may gleam and shine, King Midas’s tale remains a sign)
