The Tale of Pandoras Box A Poetic Retelling

The Tale of Pandora’s Box

A Poetic Retelling

Of Myth and Lore

In ancient times, when gods ruled the sky,
They crafted a gift for humankind’s eye.
A woman of beauty, with grace untold,
Pandora, her name, as the legends unfold.

A gift from the gods, a treasure divine,
Yet within it lay secrets, dark and unkind.
They gave her a box and warned her to wait,
But curiosity stirred, and sealed mankind’s fate.

One moment of wonder, one turn of the hand,
And the world was unmade at a mortal’s command.
From the box flew darkness, sorrow, and greed,
Each shadow and curse fulfilling its need.

Zeus had a plan, cunning and sly,
To test humankind, to make them cry.
Pandora carried the gift, a warning bestowed,
But curiosity burns, and soon she would know.

The box was opened, the evils released,
Chaos and suffering spread without cease.
Yet among the ruins, one spark remained,
Hope endured, though all else was stained.

She wept as the world began to fall,
The weight of her choice pressing over all.
But deep in the box, beneath the dread,
Hope was the last thing left unsaid.

Thus the tale is told, both wonder and woe,
Of a curious soul, and the gift she did know.
Remember her story, the lesson it brings,
Some treasures are heavy, some hope still clings.
