The Phantom Corsairs: The Cursed Rivals of the Crimson Fleet
If the Crimson Fleet were the butcher kings of the sea, then the Phantom Corsairs were the unseen dagger in the dark. Where Lord Dagon Blackmoor ruled with fear and brute strength, the Corsairs thrived on deception, illusion, and a touch of eldritch magic that made them more myth than reality. Their ships did not sail as others did—they flickered in and out of existence, appearing like ghostly mirages before striking with silent, merciless precision.
And at the head of their spectral fleet was a captain feared even by the undead—a woman whose name was spoken in hushed warnings:
Captain Selene Voidwalker.
The Captain Who Cheated Death
Selene Voidwalker was no ordinary pirate. She was a sorceress of the highest order, a mistress of shadows who once served in the City of Secrets as a high-ranking mage before she was cast out for practicing Forbidden Veil Magic—a power that allowed one to slip between realms. Betrayed by her own kin and left for dead on a sinking ship, she vowed never to trust the land again.
Instead, she turned to the sea.
Using dark magic, Selene bound her soul to the Phantom Veil, a cursed ship that could drift between dimensions, vanishing from sight only to reappear miles away in the blink of an eye. With this power, she built the Phantom Corsairs, a fleet of the most cunning, ruthless, and spell-touched pirates the world had ever seen.
But Selene’s true obsession was Dagon Blackmoor.
For years, their fleets danced a deadly waltz upon the waves—each vying for dominance, each seeking the ultimate prize: control of the Veil Sea and its hidden treasures.
The Phantom War
The battle between the Crimson Fleet and the Phantom Corsairs was not like other wars.
While Blackmoor and his undead crew struck with overwhelming force, boarding ships and bathing decks in blood, Selene and her Corsairs used illusions and trickery. The Crimson Fleet would chase them for days, only to find themselves chasing nothing but mist. Blackmoor’s men would fire cannons, only to watch their targets vanish midair. And when they least expected it, the Phantom Corsairs would reappear from the shadows, cutting down their foes before disappearing once more.
But Selene knew that trickery alone would never be enough to break Blackmoor’s rule. She needed a weapon—something strong enough to sever his cursed link to the sea.
The Trident of the Abyss
Legend told of an artifact older than 4EverImmortal itself: the Trident of the Abyss, an enchanted weapon said to command the tides, summon storms, and banish the undead to the depths forever. Selene spent years searching for it, hunting through shipwrecks, striking deals with sea witches, and even bartering with the reapers who ferried souls across the void.
And at last, she found it—buried deep in the heart of a sunken kingdom, guarded by the vengeful spirits of drowned kings.
With the trident in hand, she called upon her fleet for one final battle—a battle that would end the Crimson Fleet’s reign for good.
The Night of the Vanishing Moon
The battle took place on the blackest night the world had ever known—a night when the moon itself vanished from the sky.
Selene and her Corsairs struck with the fury of a storm, wielding magic and steel in equal measure. Blackmoor, sensing the threat, met her on the deck of his cursed flagship, The Blood Reaver, and the two clashed in a duel that shook the heavens.
Steel met steel. Spells shattered against each other like fire and ice. But in the end, it was Selene who drove the Trident of the Abyss into Blackmoor’s chest.
For a moment, the sea screamed.
The Crimson Fleet began to sink, their undead forms withering as the trident’s magic severed their bond to the ocean. Selene, triumphant, watched as Blackmoor’s ship crumbled into the abyss, his red sails vanishing beneath the waves.
But victory came at a price.
As the Trident of the Abyss unleashed its final curse, the Phantom Veil—Selene’s own ship—was pulled into the Eternal Mist, the space between realms. The Phantom Corsairs were never seen again.
The Curse of the Phantom Corsairs
Though the Crimson Fleet was thought destroyed, Blackmoor’s legend endured—and so did Selene’s.
Even now, sailors speak of ghostly ships appearing in the mist, their hulls flickering in and out of reality. Some claim that Selene still lives, trapped between dimensions, her soul forever hunting for the last remnant of Blackmoor’s power.
And on nights when the moon vanishes from the sky, those who sail the Veil Sea swear they hear a voice carried on the wind—a whisper both haunting and defiant:
"The sea does not belong to the dead… and neither do I."
